KDE Localization process for new members:
1.What is KDE?
KDE stands for The K Desktop Environment, It is part of GNU project.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE and is made by the KDE organisation worldwide.
Translation is a major part of this localization process. The bulk of KDE translations are performed by native speakers on a volunteer basis. They take sentences in the original English, supply the appropriate translation, and add the file containing this information to the kde svn repository so that the next release of the software contains the new language.
2.Really want to participate into kde localization?
If you would like to participate in the translation of KDE software, Find the mailing list of the particular team you want to participate in. Check the status page for the language to see the progress of the team you want to join in the http://l10n.kde.org/teams-list.php
Please send a mail to the coordinator or mailing list offering to join the translation project and wait for at least 1 week for a response If there is no team for your language, the team does not have a mailing list or you do not get an answer in some time (wait at least a week) please contact the https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-i18n-doc.
Enquire about the processes followed regarding translation, review and submissions if you receive a response

3.What is the role of coordinator?
As the coordinator for your team, you act as a primary person for your team and are responsible for organizing the other translators, and also coordinator need to keep their page at l10n.kde.org up to date.
4.How to apply for svn account?
First he/she should get permission from their team leader or coordinator, then they can organize how the work being done in his/her team. Please mention the approval from the team leader when requesting the account.

5.File should be which format and which translation tools stands for this format?
It's .po file and you can use gtranslator, kBabel, lokalize , etc.
6.How do i translate this file?
The files will contain message catalog entries with the format:
please dont touch part of msgid “” it should be in english, you will have to consider only “msgstr” part.

once got the svn+ssh access then how does this svn works?
1.Checkout
svn co svn+ssh://<username>@svn.kde.org/kde/trunk/l10n-kde4
For example:
svn co svn+ssh://<skothari>@svn.kde.org/kde/trunk/l10n-kde4
2.Adding
svn add <filename>
For example:
svn add gu.po
3. Updating/synching with KDE svn server
svn up (within branches)
4.Committing
svn commit -m “<message>”
For example:
svn commit -m “Updated Gujarati Translations”
